Storing oil is a highly important task for any company or organisation that works with large amounts of it. While oil is something that many of us use on a day to day basis, it is unfortunately also something that can potentially have many detrimental effects to the atmosphere if it is not correctly contained and that can cause many different problems.
If you do not store oil correctly the it can leak and damage the surrounding wildlife and plantlife – particularly if it gets into the sea where it can contaminate huge areas. A very public and well documented case of this happening was the BP oil spill that resulted in many birds becoming too covered in oil to fly and dying as a result. At the same time the oil in the water would have poisoned a lot of marine life and both these effects would have had a larger impact on the ecosystem as a whole as the balance of natural predators and prey was disturbed.
This is where oil containment tanks come in and why it is so important to choose these carefully. Oil containment tanks are of course used in order to contain oil and if you choose them well then you will limit your chances of an oil spill that could seriously damage the environment and your company's reputation – because of course if you have a high profile oil spill just like the one that BP had, then this will cause you to receive a lot of negative press and this will in turn mean that many potential customers or clients choose to do business elsewhere rather than fund your company or affiliate themselves with you when you have a reputation for not being eco-conscious.
